Barrie Tucker
Never an easy man to describe with words alone, Barrie
Tucker has transcended labels to reach the rarefied air
few designers achieve. He is a category unto himself. From
early draftsman days in Australia Barrie’s design
career began in a Swiss advertising agency, leading to international
recognition as an outstanding freelance illustrator in London
in the 1960s. Barrie returned to Australia in 1970 to open
his first studio in Carlton, Melbourne; concentrating on
his passion to create outstanding graphic design.
Founding the globally recognised Barrie Tucker Design (now
Tucker Design) in Adelaide as well as groundbreaking sister
studio Designer Wines, over the years Barrie’s creative
output has touched upon practically every facet of the design
spectrum. Untold numbers of international awards, publications,
exhibitions, distinguished commissions and successful brands
are testimony to his talents.
Recognised as a master designer by his peers, Barrie is
a member of the élite Alliance Graphique Internationale
a Life Fellow of the Design Institute of Australia, and
has been described by AGDA (Australian Graphic Design Association)
as an ‘Australian graphic design legend’.
